Installing Developer Tools on LINUX
OS
If using a LINUX PC as a development platform, the following installation steps are
required. This installa tion was tested on
Ubuntu 10.04LTS 64-bit.
Summary of Steps:
1. Download and Install compiler toolchain (GNU Tools for ARM Embedded
Processors)
2. Confirm presence of “make” and “unzip”
3. Download and Install Java Runtime
4. Download and Install the Eclipse IDE for C/C++ Developers
Details for these steps are given in the sections that follow.
Install GNU Tools for ARM Embedded Processors
1. Download GNU Tools for ARM Embedded Processors.
https://launchpad.net/gcc-arm-embedded
Download latest LINUX Installation Tarball (currently gcc-arm-none-eabi-4_7-
2013q3-20130916-linux-tar-bz2)
2. Install executables on Linux *
Unpack the tar-ball to the install directory, like this:
$ cd $install_dir && tar xjf gcc-arm-none-eabi-4_7-2013q3-20130916--
linux.tar.bz2
